The Lady Astor Presidents Cup

The Award went to Mr Derek Lee.
This nomination was based upon the all round contribution Derek has made to the nurture and cultivation of the Pelargonium represented in a wide range of activities he has pursued over many years.

The May Rushbrook Trophy

Nominated by Mr Anthony Andrews & Mrs Gillian Andrews and approved by the PAGS Management Committee.

The award went to Mr Wilhelm Elsner III, owner of the Elsner PAC Jungpflanzen nursery in Dresden.

Now in his 89th year Mr Elsner wins this award for building up his family nursery business, based in Dresden, Germany through the many stressful times from being called for military service in the World War II through to having the nursery nationalised under Eastern Block rule up until the fall of the Berlin wall. Mr Elsner introduced virus free testing facilities at his nursery in the 1950's and since that time has overseen his company grow to become one of the leading commercial Pelargonium breeders in the world. No doubt many of you will have heard of the PAC varieties of Pelargoniums on sale in Garden centres across the country which originate from his nursery breeding.
